Rich is the proud father of six girls and one son, which fuels his passion for education. He has been married for 24 years to his lovely wife Patrice, whom he met in college. He currently serves as the Director of the Wyoming Department of Education after having been appointed by Governor Matt Mead. Prior to being appointed Director, Rich served as the Senate Education Chair in the Arizona Senate, and before that, as the Education Chair in the Arizona House of Representatives.
Rich has a B.S. and Masters in Accountancy from BYU, and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. He founded CN Resource in 2002, a national child nutrition audit firm, which does work for the USDA and State Education Departments. He also served as the CFO of Crandall Corporate Dietitians, the nation's largest consulting dietitian firm. Rich has participated as an officer or task force member with several national organizations, including Jeb Bush's Foundation for Excellence in Education, the National Conference of State Legislatures, and the American Legislative Exchange Council. During his time in Arizona, Rich served as the School Board president for the 64,000 student Mesa School District. He is excited to begin his journey in the Cowboy state.
