Farm to School is a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) program that is officially called the Patrick Leahy Farm to School Program. Farm to School helps Child Nutrition program operators bring local foods into the school cafeteria.

November 2023 WDE hired a Farm to School Coordinator thanks to a USDA grant.  The grant runs through September 2026.  The goal is for the Farm to School Coordinator to foster relationships between Wyoming producers and National School Lunch Program Schools. We know it is best for all Wyoming students to eat Wyoming products while in school.

Visit this page often.  Check out our events and ways to get involved.  Thank you for visiting.  Reach out to the WDE staff with any questions, as this program is for all of Wyoming.

Meet Bobby Lane, the WDE Farm to School Coordinator.  Bobby is funded by the Farm to School Formula Grant.

Bobby comes to this position after (?) number of years at the Department of Corrections.  Bobby worked with the Department of Corrections in the production of food and sustainability.  Aside from working at the Department of Corrections Bobby has been a farmer for his entire adult life in Fremont County.  Bobby also trains mustangs in his free time.

Bobby is very passionate about getting Wyoming grown and raised products into our schools.  He loves to teach everyone he sees about the Farm to School program.

Feel free to reach out to Bobby.  He would love to tell you about what is going on with Farm to School in Wyoming.
